This new Miami hotel is literally for “ballers.” Does LeBron James really have this much star power? But anyway, we digress. The new JW Marriott Marquis Miami set to open in October is more than just a hotel, it’s a a hotel plus a 50,000-square-foot sports, lifestyle and entertainment complex. The two-story facility will have a10,000-square-foot NBA approved basketball arena, full-size tennis court, the Jim McLean Golf School, Rik Rak Spa & Salon, virtual bowling alley, Met 2 Fitness and more.
“The multiplex entertainment facility spans the hotel’s 19th and 20th floors, and was created as part of our mission to cater to the individual preferences of each guest,” said Florencia Tabeni, the hotel’s General Manager. The 19th floor also is home to a high-tech 3D media room and the pool deck with a heated stainless steel pool and whirlpool. The 20th floor is where you find the fitness center, full-service spa and beauty salon.
There’s also a hotel within the hotel. Those wanting more of a boutique experience can visit the exclusive, 44-room Hotel Beaux Arts Miami, an art-centered retreat located directly above the JW Marriot Marquis Miami. The JW Marriott Marquis Miami is a 41-floor hotel and will also be home to Miami’s first DB Bistro Moderne, a French/American restaurant by acclaimed chef-restaurateur Daniel Boulud.

Royal Salute, part of the Chivas Brothers luxury whisky stable, is releasing a new limited edition Scotch in a gold and crystal decanter to honor the Queen of England. Dubbed 62 Gun Salute in homage to the fusillade fired at the Tower of London every June to mark the Queen’s official birthday and accession to the throne, the exclusive Scotch was created with the input of four generations of master blenders and each whisky used is at least 40 years old. Presented in an exquisite hand crafted Dartington Crystal decanter decorated in 24 carat gold and crowned with a cut crystal stopper, the result of 40 hours of artisanal craftsmanship, it will go on sale at the end of the year priced at $2,000 per bottle.
Champagne Philipponnat one of the major owners of Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the region is releasing the 2000 vintage of its single vineyard, Clos de Goisses prestige cuvée. As the ripest vineyard in the region, it is able to produce a vintage almost every year, contrary to the Champagne norms of making vintages every three to four years.
The 2000 vintage is a blend of Pinot Noir (65%) and Chardonnay (35%) and can be aged up to 30 years. There is no malolactic fermentation and the 2000 vintage reflects the warmth of the year with bright, fruity nearly tropical flavors. Oak (just under 50%, no new oak) was partially used in the fermentation process for the first time at Philipponnat, to add complexity. The harvest was reduced to just 20,000 bottles out of a potential 55,000 bottles to cull out the best possible blend.
In the U.S. it will be available at select locations including Zachys where it will sell for $155.
Miami’s new W Hotel South Beach has teamed up with HBO to give Entourage fanatics a chance to live out their own Queens Boulevard to Hollywood fantasy with the new “Entourage Package.” The deal not only includes a personal driver, a luxury yacht spin along the coast, and a personal poolside cabana and jet skis, but also allows a group of four to stay at the “Entourage Bungalow” — three floors with nine-feet-high ceilings and a gallery of rock photog Danny Clinch’s artwork, plus goodies from Grey Goose and Heineken and PS3s galore. All of this is for a mere $5,650 for two nights.
This custom pool table was crafted by Florida’s Hurricane Custom Billiards specially for Unique Autosports South, the Miami showroom of the purveyor of custom rides for Hollywood’s finest. Since Unique’s whips are all about big wheels and bling, Hurricane built this table out of chromed steel and mounted it on four giant rims with ultra-low-profile tires. They topped it off with black leather trim and a black felt table top, and mounted a custom lighting kit capable of reproducing 1000 colors, just for good measure.
Justin Timberlake brings a new tequila to the market place dubbed “901 Silver.” The ultra premium spirit is hand crafted in small batches using only 100% Blue Weber Agave. It’s triple distilled for an ultra-smooth finish.
Timberlake and partners selected Tequilera Newton in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico to produce 901 after visiting more than 10 distilleries. Newton brings over three generations of craftsmanship and more than 60 years of experience.
Packaged in a distinctive multi-faceted bottle, the name 901 refers to both the area code for Timberlake’s hometown of Memphis as well as the magic moment when the night’s activities begin.
901 is initially available for purchase in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and St. Louis.
Cognac sales may be slowing for some brands but Hennessy isn’t letting that dissuade them from the launch of Hennessy Black in 10 markets throughout the US. In addition to having a dramatic black bottle it’s also different inside. The Hennessy Black is a blend of 35 to 45 pale and gold colored eaux-de-vie selected for their floral characteristics and aged in French oak barrels previously used by Hennessy for at least five years. Although the name might lead you to expect a darker, richer cognac, the Hennessy Black is said to have a more gentle wood influence with floral notes and hints of citrus and honey. Suggested recipes include serving it with a dash of lemon juice and simple sugar, with coffee liqueur and cola, with fresh ginger, simple syrup and lemon juice or Royale style with champagne, a dash of lemon juice and simple syrup. The cognac also already has its own song, “When I Step Into the Club” from Swizz Beatz.” which will be performed for the first time at a launch event on May 5.
